Most tram and bus lines run until around 12:30 AM. On weekends, some lines operate night buses (N-lines) until the early hours of the morning. Always check the BVB app for real-time schedules.

Swiss tap water is of excellent quality and perfectly safe to drink. Many restaurants will also refill water bottles upon request.

Smoking is not permitted indoors in restaurants, bars, public buildings, or City Pop spaces. The same rules apply to e-cigarettes.

Switzerland uses Swiss francs (CHF), although many places also accept euros (EUR), often with unfavorable exchange rates. Cards and contactless payments (Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, etc.) are widely accepted.

Most shops and supermarkets are closed on Sundays, except for:

• Basel SBB station shops
• Airport shops
• Some convenience stores and kiosks

Basel is generally very safe. However, as in any city, it is advisable to remain aware of your surroundings, particularly around major transport hubs at night.
